What To Do On Kauai – Kayak Hanalei Tours – Hanalei, Kauai

If you’re looking for what to do on Kauai, Kayak Hanalei Tours, in Hanalei, Kauai, is a great option. For over 30 years, the Stewart Ohana (family) of Hanalei have been sharing aloha and knowledge with Kauai visitors. They specialize in small, personalized kayaking tours starting from their own private dock off the tranquil Hanalei River. Heading downstream into beautiful Hanalei Bay the tour continues around the corner to open ocean where there’s a good chance you’ll come face to face with a honu (Hawaiian green sea turtle) or two.

Finally you’ll pull your kayaks up on a private sandy beach. Guides, who are all born and raised in the islands, will share modern day reef ecology and point out what to look for while you spend time snorkeling. After you’ve had your fill of tropical fish, a full deli style lunch is provided.

The Stewart family takes great pride in everything they do – the quality of their equipment, their knowledgeable, friendly and fully trained guides, and their pono (culturally and environmentally correct) practices – all representing their love and respect for the ‘Aina (land) and it’s rich history. They are fully insured and use only clean, well maintained state-of-the-art equipment.

Here are the original owners to tell you what to expect when you book a tour with them. My friend, Hale, a second generation Stewart, is now managing the family business……

Stephen, from Petaluma, CA, wrote this review on Yelp just a few days ago:

“We had an awesome time! This experience is beginner friendly but also fun for experienced Kayakers.

We started with paddling around in the river before heading into the bay. After ‘yak surfing some waves, we parked at a beach and spent about an hour snorkeling with dozens of different types of fish. We saw some turtles from our boats, but not during snorkeling. Then it was lunch on the beach and a bit more paddling in the bay before heading in. We were content, sun baked, and ready for a nap!

It’s a fun tour and the guide is excellent: he gives some fun history along the way and goes out of his way to make sure you have a good time. I’d recommend checking out this tour.”
