Try Your Hand At Ukulele Lessons While Visiting Kauai, Hawaii!
One of my June guests who stayed at my vacation rental, Honu Point, was quick to tell me about how much fun they had taking ukulele lessons at Hanalei Strings. The whole family participated, along with a friend who happened to be on the island at the same time. I had heard about these lessons before, but there is nothing like hearing about it from someone who has actually participated. They had a blast!
Hanalei Strings is a store in the Ching Young Shopping Village, right in the heart of Hanalei. Owners since 2015, Kirk, Tora and Eli Smart are “a musical family dedicated to sharing musical joy and knowledge.” They say their mission is “to spread the joy of creativity to people of all ages and to provide the most welcoming, supportive space for people (and dogs) interested in learning the wonderful art of making music and being creative.”
Hanalei Strings offers group ukulele lessons every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 6:00 PM. It is a one, time, one hour lesson for $25 per person. They will supply your instrument for the lesson. No musical experience is required. After just one hour they claim you will be on your way to playing thousands of songs. Private instruction for ukulele and guitar is also available.
While there you might consider the purchase of one of the many ukuleles they offer. If you have taken a lesson, you will receive a 15% discount on the purchase. You may also rent their ukuleles and guitars for $10/day or $50/week.
